Overcoming obstacles with Optimism

Tuesday 2013

I am not one to make resolutions.  The quote by F.M. Knowles has always brought me humor: “He who breaks a resolution is a weakling; He who makes one is a fool.”  While I believe in having goals, I find it peculiar that so many people wait until one specific day of the year to make these grand resolutions.  It is my thought that every morning we should make tiny goals.  These tiny goals should build to larger goals.  Looking back we will be empowered by the numerous goals we have accomplished rather than be burdened by the one larger missed New Year’s goal.

For me, I do not make annual resolutions.  I prefer to look ahead and have hope for the great possibilities that I see coming my way.  I like to look back over a past year and see the expected and unexpected accomplishments.

On a Tuesday, 361 days from now, you will wake up to greet 2013. How many reasons will you have to smile?  What will you have been able to cross off your bucket list?  Sometimes events or people come into our lives and bless us with happiness and fond memories.  Sometimes it will be us that venture into other lives and leave them with warm feelings.

In these next 361 days, I want you to share with me how many memories were made that left you with a warm feeling of happiness and hope.  Better yet though, how many times did you willingly create these warm memories for someone else?

Not sure how to start building these memories?  Unaware as to how to help create lasting smiles for others?  Let me start you off with these helpful tips:

“Dance as though no one is watching you.

Love as though you have never been hurt before.

Sing as though no one can hear you.

Live as though heaven is on earth.”

  1. Inspiring post! (as always).
I am also one who don’t write annual promises by the start of a year, but I do write goals every now and then.
    Happy new year!

  2. At last getting back to reading fellow bloggers after heart attack and all attendant alarums and excursions —

which have left me with many grateful memories of so many people who helped in so many different ways!

Happy also to be back reading your wisdom, Tara. Love, J

    • Judith, you had quite a scare! I am glad you are back writing to us again. Tell, have you fully recovered (besides the expected fear)? I hope you are back to your old self. Thanks for stopping by and letting me know you are well.

      Tara

Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts
